The Pescado team walk 19 miles for Kidney Research UK

On Saturday 7th September, 21 of Pescado’s dedicated team and 6 friends donned their walking gear and set off at 8am from Frodsham on what turned out to be a 19-mile walk to Beeston Castle along the Sandstone Trail.

The trail was more of a trial in parts with the team battling their way through 8ft high fields of corn and overgrown paths covered in nettles and hidden potholes.  Morale remained high throughout the whole day with great camaraderie shown by all, from helping each other over the numerous stiles and lifting each other over deep puddles and a quagmire of sludge to shouts of support when the inclines seemed near impossible, it was a huge team effort.

Group managing director Fraser, commented on the event and said: “It was an amazing day, it was great to see the team really go for the challenge and give up their Saturday!  The support we have received from our customers, suppliers and our friends and families has been incredible, it really is true that Pescado is like a big family. At the finish we had lots of people waiting at the local pub to cheer us on our last steps and greet us with a much-needed welcome drink.”

“Kidney Research is an amazing charity doing fantastic work.  With our much-loved colleague Peter now undergoing hemodialysis three times a week and our business development team leader Gareth looking like a potential kidney donor, we had to do something to show our support.  People have been so generous; it has been really humbling and I would like to thank everyone who has sponsored us or supported in some other way.”

Pescado will continue to support Kidney Research with other smaller events throughout the year, if you would like to you can still sponsor the Pescado team to help them smash their target:  https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/pescado-kidney-research.  Keep an eye out for future Pescado fundraisers, maybe you could be involved next time!
